Problem

• How do I disable the censor blur that covers sims when they're naked or using the washroom?

Solution

If you have just the base game (The Sims 2) or the base game and University and you have not applied the University patch, you can use the following cheat:

• intProp censorGridSize 0

If that works and you would like to disable the blur without having to type that every time you play, you can add that cheat to your Userstartup.cheat file.

If you have installed the University patch, or if you have further expansions later than University, this cheat will not work - the developers disabled it. However, you can still disable the blur in the following ways:

Dec 12, 2010  Run the Sqlite shell and create a database file. To run the command line shell (in windows) you can click on Start->Run. Then enter cmd to open a DOS command shell and press OK. Cd to the directory that sqlite is in or specify the full path, then put the name of the new (to be created database file), I will call mine mydatabase.sqlite. Sqlite batch file insert. I am playing with different buffer sizes to be inserted into the local SQLite DB and have found that it takes nearly 8 minutes to inserts 10,000,000 rows of data, when buffer size is 10,000. In other words, it takes 1,000 writes to store everything. 8 minutes to store 10,000,000 seems a bit too long. Try the InsertAll and UpdateAll functions. Hopefully this opens up the database table just once and inserts/updates everything at once. You will need to figure out which objects to insert/update ahead of time, but this should still really speed things up.

• Use SimPE - Open SimPE and go to the Extra menu, then click Preferences. When the preferences come up, click on SimPE settings. Under the Game Settings heading, uncheck where it says 'Blur Nudity'

The Sims 3 includes a feature that blurs or creates a mosaic around a nude Sim. Like other virtual reality games, players in Sims 3 create content, such as skins and clothes, and need to see the Sim nude with different content. Many players use a mod to get around this feature to see the Sim without the blur. The mod is free, but you have to install the patch to the right location in your Sims 3 folder to see the uncensored version of your Sim.

Open 'The Sims 3' folder in 'DocumentsElectronic ArtsThe Sims 3.' Right click in the blank area of the folder and create a new folder named 'Mods.' Double click to open this new folder and right click again to create a new folder named 'Packages.'

Download a Sims 3 censor patch from a reliable source. Save the file to the 'Packages' folder you created. The Sims 3 Nude Patch version 2.4 is available from an admin of xSims. File Planet also provides a nude mod for Sims 3, or the No Mosaic mod at ModtheSims.

Right click on the file in 'Packages' and click 'Unzip' to open the contents. Drag the .package file into the 'Packages' folder after unzipping.

Open The Sims 3 and test your nude patch by undressing your Sim.
